Tips

Filter before you enrich. Every filter runs ahead of verification, so a narrow query never spends Smarty credits on locations you will not receive.
Turn off fetchDetails for a fast sweep. Addresses come from the listing pages regardless; detail pages only add the building suite and operator name.
Narrow startUrls to one state for cheap, repeatable runs — the whole US takes roughly 50 requests, but a single state takes a handful.
Read verification.status. Records can legitimately come back as skipped-no-keys, no-candidates, or error; treat anything other than enriched as unverified rather than invalid.

faq

Do I need Smarty credentials?

No. Without them the verification phase is skipped and records are emitted with verification.status of skipped-no-keys — the addresses, operators, and prices still come through. Credentials add the deliverability, CMRA, county, and geocode fields.

Why is dpv_cmra always Y?

Anytime Mailbox locations are Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies, so Y is the expected result for a valid US address. That is exactly what makes the dataset useful as a CMRA registry: USPS publishes no public CMRA list.

Does a weekly refresh re-bill every address?

No. Verification results are cached in a named key-value store that persists across runs, so only new or changed addresses are sent to Smarty. This matters most for international addresses, which cost one credit each.
